Summer is over! Time to get busy

Hello there, time for another irregular blog! A lot has happened i mean... a lot! Lets bullet point it down:

  • Exams: I got a nasty nasty chest infection which affected the whole of my exam period. I've never been ill during exams, i've never had such bad luck. But alas i got on with it, wheezing my way through em. But i failed 2 and got shit marks on all of them. I cried ALOT. The prospect of having to retake 2 and not graduate with my friends wasn't what killed me inside... it was the fact i'm stuck with a crap degree and THIS CHANGES EVERYTHING....

  • So i retook, and am waiting my exam results. The annoying thing was... the amount of revision i did was miniscule. My own fault really... although i will blame the uni for messing me about and giving me my exam timetable ONE WEEK BEFORE THE BLOODY EXAMS!!!

  • I have started preparations to study medicine. I figure out in order to get into medical school now, i'm gonna have to show some welly, since my degree is one bigass fail! I actually was stalking the NHS jobs website for some good experience and came across a ward volunteer role. I had an interview and got it :D perfect experience. I'm also tryna get a full time job doing something along those lines to save for those pesky £9000 a year fees. As for UCAS, i have written my personal statement and am about to apply... this blog about to liven up!

Phew!

Exams

For me, all my time at the moment is going into revision, revision, revision. I have 5 exams, but i failed 3 of my essays last term and haven't been allowed time to redo them, so have gotta work extra hard! Don't ask about failing, It was entirely my fault, i lacked motivation and was pure lazy, worked too much at job and when i was at the computer, I was not on word :/ I have made a revision schedule and so far so good :) My boyfriend has been super motivating, making sure i don't get off track or distracted by YouTube. However bang in the middle of my exams I am moving house and have a million boxes to pack before i do, and the sad thing is I'm moving apart from my boyfriend. Not for relationship reasons just money reasons, so I'm moving in with some pals in a lovely house. I have been looking at jobs for the year off, as i don't want to stay in my retail job because it doesn't pay enough for the amount i have to save. I'm mainly trying to get my foot in the door of the NHS or something along that route just for work experience or a caring environment. Can only look good right! I have purchased my books for summer GAMSAT revision and can't wait to get stuck in, but they have been hidden away as i fear they will distract me from... sigh... law. cue yawn and cue revision. PS: Watched the junior doctors programme! Gutted its finished! I really enjoyed it and it was a wonderful insight into my possible future!

The Plan

Its been a while since my first post but not much has changed if I'm honest! I am now in my 3rd year of uni still studying the dreadful LAW!! I'm a few months off graduating- so so close yay! I have now made my game plan and a lot has changed with my game plan since Mr Cameron was appointed our prime minister. With this sudden rise in the Uni fees I'm going to take a year out after this and work for a year raising money to cover costs such as tuition and travel since I wont be able to apply for another student loan. During this year out I'm going to study the sciences, which I am soooooo excited about!! I absolutely love science, but my mind has forgotten a fair bit since high school! Hello 5 years! I'm not going to be taking any courses, just got a bunch of alevel and GSCE books to study from, from home ( I sometimes get distracted and read them when i should be reading up on my law! DOH). Sometime in September I am going to apply to my chosen medical schools (I have 4) and get ready for the GAMSAT and all that jazz, eeeeeek! Over the summer I am travelling for a month which i kinda regret now, but hey ho, I have to much to save for and too much to do!!
SO that's where I'm at, I'm going to be documenting a lot more when things actually get going!
So ta ta for now :)

Hello there!

SOOO this is my first blog! I'll give you a bit of input before I start. I'm 20 years old. I'm gonna remain anon, but I am female. I have a boyfriend. I go to uni, not the best one in the world, not the worst, in the UK. I study law, which i HATE. When i was 18 years old choosing my course to study at uni i chose law, because of 2 things. 1. I thought it would be INTERESTING... i was very very wrong. OK so criminal law interested the hell out of me. I loved it with a passion. But things like property or eu law, really, really bored me. Secondly, I'm very very ambitious. I aim high. Law seemed like a challenge and my god it is! The concepts are not hard, but its very hard to achieve and do well in it when you lack passion. And this is something i just dont have for this subject.

I did a years work experience with a firm, and i learnt a lot. But not about law, about myself. I learnt that... to succeed in law, you need to be a certain type of person. Its not about justice, its a business. You need to be spunky, you need to wanna argue and make money out of people. And this is not what i wanted to do.

I cried for like ages. I'm in my second year and I figured out... I'm failing!! And to top it off i hate my degree, and i dont want to pursue a career in law. Imagine figuring this out in your second year of uni, a week before your exams. My boyfriend told me... well do what YOU wanna do then. I dont know what i wanna do, i replied to him. And then he asked me what it was i wanted to do when i was little.
I replied. I wanted to be a doctor and help people. The whole reason i went into law was to help people, and well, you just dont do that with law. You do all you can to get as much money out of them as possible. Thats not me!
My boyfriend laughed when I said this, he said i should do something with animals, because im caring. And i am caring. And to nice for my own good. But then it hit me... why don't i just go for it?
SO thats what i'm doing.
